Dr. Pennington's session explores the double-edged sword of similarities in coaching research, particularly for leaders from under-represented groups highlighted in cutting-edge research that suggested that similarities can boost trust and connection and create blind spots. Dr Pennington will share real-life coaching scenarios where similarities played a pivotal role and unpack the uncomfortable truth of when "too much alike" can hinder progress. This session is more than theory; prepare for a lively discussion as Dr. Pennington draws on his consulting experience and sparks your insights.

Jenny Garrett will host a powerful panel on 'Decolonizing Coaching Research: Integrating Indigenous and Ancestral Knowledge'. Coaching has been Eurocentric for too long, neglecting the global wealth of ancestral wisdom. This narrow approach has excluded the voices and experiences of Black clients, failing to address the unique challenges they face. This panel promises to be a powerful conversation, exploring how we can integrate this rich ancestral wisdom into coaching practices to create a more equitable and transformative space for all.

The Poster Session offers current researchers an opportunity to showcase their coaching research initiatives, engage with the conference delegates and talk about specific aspects of their research.

Nankhonde Kasonde-van den Broek has played a pivotal role in shaping the leadership journeys of professionals throughout Africa, beginning in their homeland; Zambia. Through these experiences, Nankhonde has been continually shaping and refining their identity as an African coach and contributing to the global agenda within organizational contexts.

During the upcoming session, Nankhonde will share insights gained from navigating the intricacies of cultural systems within the coaching process. Including adaptation of the coaching approach to better resonate with the cultural contexts of Africa. Delegates can expect a rich discussion on cultural sensitivity within coaching practice, and valuable takeaways for coachers, sponsors, and clients navigating diverse organizational landscapes.

Dr Rhamie's session based on his transformative leadership experiences delves into the critical need for racial justice, equity, and belonging in the coaching industry, especially within predominantly white spaces. With a focus on empowering African-descended coaches, it explores the impact of movements like Black Lives Matter. The conversation re-evaluates resilience in the face of racism, 'othering', and resistance. Structured around a four-stage progression — what is going on, why, what ought to be, and the necessary actions — it aspires to cultivate an inclusive coaching environment.

Whether you're a seasoned or buddy coaching practitioner or a delegate passionate about creating a culture of genuine belonging, Dr Rhamie's session offers an opportunity to engage in strategic dialogue to promote psychological safety, empowerment, and freedom within the evolving coaching research ecosystem.

Dr. Pamula Larde's session explores the intersection of human wholeness, justice, and joy amid identity-based inequities. Using the Multidimensional Framework of Joy, Dr Larde guides the audience through the journey from wellness to liberation, emphasizing the role of culturally responsive coaching.

The session focuses on navigating challenges related to biases and hostile environments, with the overarching goal of achieving personal and professional joy.

Integrating our learning so far, facilitated by Dr Saiyyidah Zaidi.
How do we courageously incorporate indigenous and ancestral knowledge into our coaching research and practice.

Remi Ray will lead us through a thought-provoking journey, that dives into the overlooked narratives of Black Neurodiverse Professionals within the workplace. "Journeying Home" provides a nuanced examination of the triumphs, challenges, and distinctive perspectives that shape the careers of individuals at the intersection of the Black and Neurodiverse communities.

Following on from their 2021 paper "Racial Justice, Equity and Belonging in Coaching" and the call to action, Charmaine Roche will use the process of an ongoing PhD journey to explore the riches that global majority coaches have to offer to the coaching ecosystem.

Our MC Junior Beaman will wrap up the conference with an inspirational message and pass on the baton to our host for 2025!
